The Cost of Habits
The other day my cable box broke, which meant no TV for awhile. Since I couldn't watch "Ghost Hunters" I found myself with nothing to do, so I started working on a business project I had been putting off until I "got around to it." Two hours later, with project completed, I started to wonder how much my TV habit was REALLY costing me. If the cable box hadn't broken, that project would still be sitting on my desk waiting for me to come up with another reason to put it off.
I began to think of all the other things I wasn't doing while I was watching TV, like going to the gym, working on the book I'm writing, doing networking events so I can get more business, and at least a dozen other very healthy things I could be doing with my TV time. Not to mention that between TV, cable and phone I pay about $175 (yes, I have EVERY channel, or I should say HAD since I decided to cut way back to just the basics).
While I am still not willing to give up "Ghost Hunters", "Survivor" or "Project Runway", I have eliminated the "Oh, let's just see what's on" scrolling I was doing and replaced it with more productive activities. Of course, I am going through some withdrawals right now, but I'm doing them at the GYM where at least my butt will get smaller rather than become the shape of my couch.
Ask yourself what unproductive habit you are holding on to, and how much it is costing you. Smoking, drinking, and over-spending have costs easy to calculate, but what about habits like over-eating, eating out too much, shopping (retail therapy) or procrastination? Those can cost you a lot more than you realize.
It takes 21 days of conscious thinking to change a habit or create a new one, so make a decision about what you would like to add, change or replace and get started. A month from now you probably won't even miss what you gave up. With hypnotherapy we can anchor those new habits in about 25 minutes so that they become the automatic ones. You still have to do the work, but the preferred behavior is the one you think about.
If you need help making that change give me a call, I am here to help.
Remember; If you change your MIND you change your LIFE
